About Freedom Rider

Freedom Rider began in 1996 as a catalog of hard to find, specialty items for therapeutic riding and driving. We began honestly and simply—to fulfill a need we saw a friend experiencing with her special needs, with her very special horse named “Freedom.” Freedom was a patient, wonderful partner and
teacher and carried an honorable name that we are proud to share.

Over time, we have grown our product offerings to include more items for therapeutic riding, hippotherapy and able-bodied riders of many disciplines. We’ve done this by working with manufacturers, specialized craftsmen and women, and jointly developing some products based on customer needs.

Our mission is to provide safe, top quality tack, supplies, and resources for riders, horses, instructors, and trainers.

Freedom Rider’s founder passed the reins to me in 2018, allowing me to help others enjoy the world of horses and riding, just as I do. We are a small, woman-owned business that supports state and federal government programs, therapy centers, competitive riders and every day trail riders.
